Shortly after I closed my doors to my comic shop Ninth Nebula. Paid in full. Ten great years. Still don’t know why they went away. Strange thing was getting a $100,000 check in the mail which I reluctantly returned. We were out by the summer of 1988, I thought. The front of the Lavery Court office was different from the photo in the article – there weren’t two roll-up doors side-by-side, even if you considered the offices on either side of us. And we didn’t start publishing newspaper strip reprints until we were on Lawrence Drive because those were only made possible by our purchase of a nifty stat camera, and converting one of the bathrooms into a darkroom. We didn’t do any strip reprints out of Lavery Court, so there wouldn’t have been a copy of Charlie Chan laying around for the reporter to see.

Plus, some of the books mentioned, especially Planet of the Apes, but also Dracula and Frankenstein, weren’t published out of Lavery Court – that was Lawrence Drive too.
