FANATIC BLOG OF THE WEEK
In my fanatic pursuit of new blogs to qualify for Fanatic Blog of the Week, I’ve seen a lot of comic book review blogs. Generally I’m not impressed, but this is the blog exception to the rule. Rokk’s Comic Book Revolution alternates between long, involved detailed reviews and shorter shotgun reviews they call “Bunker Bulletins.” Thoughtfully illustrated and written with entertaining verve, Rokk Krinn and the other folks who post here (Shawn, Jim and Nagacore) provide qualitative evaluations along with historical perspectives and other commentary important to their readers. Books are given separate grades for story and art … both on a ten point Night Girls scale.
For instance, the new Jay Faerber book DYNAMO 5 got an Story Rating of 8 out of 10 Night Girls and an Art Rating of 7 out of 10 Night Girls. But the guidance to comic book readers doesn’t stop there, they also include a summary recommendation in real English. One of the most respected and well-traveled comic book blogs on the internet, so there is a chance if you’re a Fanatic, you’re already checking this site. If not, go there now … go there often.
FANATIC QUIZ QUESTION OF THE WEEK
I’m having so much fun with this theme I’ve been using for the last few questions that I’m going to do it again. Below you’ll find four Neal Adams covers from DC Comics. What do they have in common, other than Neal Adams? This is an awfully difficult one … or at least it would be for me if I didn’t already know that answer. Just like many of the quiz questions that I’ve asked in the past, I’ve got an ulterior motive here.

All the books were released roughly around the same time, the first two weeks of February 1969, with either April or April/May 1969 indicia dates. According to Mike Voiles, the release dates were 2/4/69 for Challs, 2/6/69 for the Superman and Unexpected, and 2/13/69 for the Lois Lane book.

It helps that’s when I started my collection; all but the Lois Lane issue were in one of my very first batches. :)
